Southvan Allrounder can accommodate 9 people.

How many people can sit comfortably in the Ford Transit Van? If you estimate there are about six, you need to raise your expectations. A new Ford Transit Custom called Southvan Allrounder can accommodate 9 people in camping mode. It achieves this by using a smart and expandable indoor kitchen that can swing outdoors and an adaptable seating system. Everything inside can slide, rotate, flip and fold to make way for the nine people.

Southvan Allrounder of Germany defeated Ford Nugget and became the ultimate camper in the wilderness or the city. It is a good news for the big family. It tried to do its best while providing enough space for nine passengers, and it won many admirations at the Düsseldorf RV Salon, which debuted in 2021.

The working principle of Southvan Allrounder is a rail system embedded in the floor, allowing you to play around with the seat at will, even though the seat is much narrower than usual. But it is a camper, not a luxurious five-star hotel room, so it has enough for a pleasant camping trip.

This is how the Ford Transit customization proved to be the ultimate campervan in its Southvan Allrounder incarnation.

Southvan is a van shop. It was originally a simple campervan, which they called a smaller and more comfortable campervan. But with Allrounder, the situation is quite different, because it is a versatile mini camper that can be used in many ways.

At 196 inches long, the key to the comprehensiveness of Allrounders is the kitchen, which can swing outward for cooking, or inward for storage, and work around the seating arrangement. By the way, the seating arrangement is also configurable.

The kitchen looks small, but it expands to a spacious cooking area with all the necessities, an open counter next to the sink and a portable single burner. The kitchen block is hinged behind the driver's seat, so it can swing out of the sliding door, with the outdoor feel of a large slide-out, flip-out work area.

Southvan Allrounder provides a three-seater rear bench and another seat as standard equipment, which can accommodate a total of six vans. You can add three seats for nine people without removing the kitchen block. Southvan claims that a GVWR weighing more than 3,200 kg (7,050 lb) can bear weight, but it ultimately comes down to the weight of the passengers and their equipment.

Keep in mind that the extra seats are very cramped and may only be suitable for children or young adults. The bed provided can only sleep four people. Two adults and two children on the pop-up roof bed, or small adults on the bed inside. All other 5-9 passengers need to camp outside the van.

But as the name implies, Southvan Allrounder is more than just a camper. It can pack luggage for children, football mom-style trips, and even mountain bikes for single or couple adventures. When needed, it can also double as a truck.

This van is a Ford Transit Custom Trend model, equipped with a 129-horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine, and starts at approximately $60,650. Buy the Trail variant for $63,150, and you can get upgrades from Ford, such as a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Each additional seat costs an additional $1,000, and there are other options such as diesel heating, solar charging, portable chemical toilets, and roof and bicycle racks, each of which requires a fee.

Southvan has also developed two different kitchen modules. The top decoration is priced at $6,860 and comes with a small refrigerator with compressor unit, a portable power supply for USB and 230-V sockets. It also has a pull-out faucet for outdoor showers, with a 12-liter fresh and waste water tank. The lower version, which costs about $1,000, has a single-burner gas cylinder and therefore does not require a portable power station. Refrigerators have become larger, and outdoor showers have become an option.

All in all, if you manage to get it in the United States, your favorite version of Southvan Allrounder may only cost $70,000. It does have many advantages, mainly because it can double, triple, and quadruple as many things as possible. Therefore, it makes sense to use it as a sturdy and durable outdoor vehicle for a child's family.

Given the compact space, compromises have been made, but then again, for those who like to camp and travel to the wilderness, Southvan Allrounder manages to provide anything you might need. As a solo traveler, as a couple, or even as a family. This Ford Transit bespoke product is packed with a lot of things, making it the ultimate campervan.
